Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Doni Primanto Joewono assessed that communication plays an important role in central bank policies in various worlds.
"Therefore, the central bank continues to improve their communication with the market, the public and other policy makers," Doni said at the International Flagship Webinar in Jakarta, Friday.

-In fact, the central bank is currently transforming its communications so that all people from all walks of life can be interested and respond quickly to messages from the central bank.Doni explained that there are two groups of people who receive central bank communications, namely expert audiences who have an interest in following policies and non-expert audiences who are not too interested and do not respond quickly to central bank messages.
Therefore, this has motivated the central bank to continue trying to transform communication so that it can be more easily accepted by the general public.
"As an independent institution, the central bank must be able to demonstrate its accountability to the public, so that policy analysis needs to be announced in a simple way so that experts and non-expert audiences can understand the monetary decisions made," he said.
In Indonesia, he mentioned at least two main factors that pushed BI as the central bank to change the way of communicating, namely digitalization which is quite rampant and 60 percent of the population are millennials with high access to mobile phones.
Nevertheless, the communication transformation is still carried out in a transparent, credible, and attractive manner in the eyes of policy makers, and is supported by digitalization.
In addition, Donny revealed that there are also three foundations that build BI's latest communication framework, namely regulating the expectations of policy makers, increasing public literacy, and -
-regulating transparency and responsibility to support the effectiveness of BI's policies.
